The Open Ledger Partnership - Working to bring Open Data to life 

 

Open Data is a worldwide movement, connecting all relevant stakeholders through a digital ecosystem and enabling them to simply and securely exchange data. Open Data initiatives are springing up globally, including in Australia and New Zealand. Legal frameworks are being put in place, like the Consumer Data Right in Australia, and much effort is being put into defining specific standards and rules. 

 

The role of accountants is not fully defined yet, but with their business clients now in the scope of the Open Data rules, they will have to play a crucial role as professional advisors and trusted intermediaries.  More data sharing with accountants will happen, both within and outside the Consumer Data Right / Open Data regime. This will present opportunities and threats to their practice and profession.

 

It is the Open Ledger Partnerships mission to openly discuss the changes, pose questions, formulate answers, consult with experts, and translate the impact into practical use cases that will help accountants to translate and empower the use of open data.  

 

We want to empower accountants to understand how to serve their clients and be actively in charge of unlocking future values for their practice.
